Answers to common questions, and how to reach us if you need more help.
Yes. Your accounts, transactions, categories, and budgets are stored on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, synced through your own private iCloud account. Nothing is ever sent to a server of ours — there isn't one — and the developer cannot see your synced data. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Yes, as long as both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account. Syncing happens automatically in the background — there's nothing to switch on. If you're not signed in to iCloud, the app just works locally on that device instead.
Sync follows your device's iCloud settings, so signing out of iCloud (or turning off iCloud Drive for Clearly Budget in Settings) stops it. Your data stays on the device either way.
If you're signed in to iCloud, your budget appears on a new device automatically once you sign in and open the app. You can also keep your own copy: Settings → Data → Back Up Data exports everything to a file you can save wherever you like, and Settings → Restore from Backup brings it back.
Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap the + button in the corner, search for Clearly Budget, and pick a widget. There are two: your total balance, and your budget progress for the month.
Yes. Go to Settings → Privacy and turn on the lock. The app then locks itself whenever you leave it or close it. If Face ID or Touch ID fails, you can still get in with your device passcode.
Yes — try "Log an expense in Clearly Budget." Siri will ask for the amount and, if you like, a note and category. It's added to your last-used account without opening the app. The same shortcut is available in the Shortcuts app if you'd rather build it into an automation.
Pull down on the Transactions tab to reveal the search field. You can search by note, category, account, or amount, and use the chips above the list to show only income or only expenses.
When you turn on Rollover for a category, any unused portion of that month's limit automatically carries into next month's available budget for that category.
When adding a transaction, turn on Repeat and choose Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly, or Yearly, along with the date it should land on. Future occurrences are generated automatically. Editing a recurring series later only changes future occurrences — past transactions are never rewritten.
Yes. The Transactions tab has an Export button that lets you generate a CSV file filtered by account and time period.
